The Union Raiders Football & Cheer program has a rich history with a greatly successful story to tell, from administrators to players to coaches to specific teams.  The Union Raiders Original 33 Hall of Fame is dedicated to telling that story through those who have been and will be inducted to the Hall of Fame over the program's future years.  The name itself, "Original 33" is dedicated to the first group of players who made up the program's first year of existence.  To date, the number 33 is the only number in the Union Raiders program that has been retired, in their honor, and this Hall of Fame continues to recognize those pioneers who began it all!

4th Class

Nathan Yowan

Nathan played Running Back and Defensive Back from 3rd – 8th grades for the Union Raiders. Considered the best athlete of his class, Nathan started on both sides of the ball for this Union Raiders career, with a long career of big carries on offense and big tackles and passes defended on defense. Nathan went on to have an outstanding career at Ryle and in 2021 was named 1st Team All-Northern Kentucky Defensive Back

Matt Lee

Matt started coaching for the Union Raiders in 2013, an integral part of the group of Raiders who made their way through NKYFL and then KYMSFA like a titan, completing a career undefeated from 3rd-8th grades (and continuing into their freshman year and hopefully 3 more years beyond). Matt led his team to win the NKYFL super bowl as head coach in 2018 and 2019. Matt was also a long-time board member who had the drive and vision to make the program’s golf outing one of the premier fundraiser events for any organization in NKY. Matt’s efforts off the field enabled the program to update equipment, uniforms and more! The Union Raiders is what it is today because of Matt's accomplishments both on and off of the field!

2nd Class

Ted Morgan

Last season, The Union Raiders Original 33 Hall of Fame was created to help not only tell the story of the program, but also recognize those who had essential parts in creating, playing in, and maintaining the Union Raiders since the program's inception.  A pool of candidates each year is presented to the Board who then pairs the pool down to a group of candidates to be voted upon by the Hall of Fame Committee and prior entrants.  Those new entrants for the Second Class of the Union Raiders Original 33 Hall of Fame will be announced over each of the next five Friday's, and will be recognized at the end of the 2021 season at our banquet!

Our First Entry to the 2nd Class of The Union Raiders Original 33 Hall of Fame is Ted Morgan!

When the Union Raiders were just a dream amongst a few, a group of people envisioned a program where kids who would eventually play for Ryle could begin building bonds as teammates learning the game at the youth level together.  Those bonds and skills would then follow those players into their high school careers.  A dream is only made tangible by those who put the work in, and one essential person to the beginning of the Union Raiders program was Ted Morgan.

At the beginning, focus was put on building teams at the middle school level.  This meant two major things were needed: players to commit to the new experiment AND teams or leagues willing to play this new start-up organization.  Ted took on the task of finding both, putting a great deal of time and effort into the beginning of the Union Raiders program.  Ted spoke with parents and players, pitching the concept of an organization that would "feed" into these players' high school career, convincing them to take a leap of faith into a new program with the goal to help prepare these players for their time at Ryle HS, building the original 33 Union Raiders.  For the frist two years, Ted spent countless hours finding teams and leagues who would play games against the Union Raiders, and eventually negotiated the Union Raiders' entry into the middle school system that allowed access to a state playoff to battle for a state championship.  In the first year of joining, both the 7th and 8th grade teams made it to the state semi-finals, rewarding his efforts.

Ted was the Offensive Coordinator and QB coach for the first several years of the Union Raiders program and served as Co-President of the organization alongside Rick Scherr.  The Union Raiders are the program that they are today thanks to the hard work that those like Ted Morgan put in at the beginning!

Parker played for the Union Raiders from 6th grade through 8th grade where he was a dominant lineman throughout his entire URF career.  He went on to play for the Ryle Raiders where he was a three year starter on the line and All-State nominee.

Connor Lee

Connor played for the Union Raiders his 7th and 8th grade years where he was the workhorse in the backfield, carrying most of the offense during those seasons.

Connor went on to play running back and wide receiver for the Ryle Raiders, churning out the yards on offense until his senior year was cut short due to an injury.  Connor powered through rehabilitating after the injury and has signed to play for Centre College Colonels!

Kyle went on to play for the Ryle Raiders where he ranks 3rd all-time in career rushing yards at 2,257.  Following his time as a Ryle Raider, Kyle was recruited to play for the Wilmington College Quakers where he played in 5 games his freshman season, grinding it out for 11.4 yards/carry with 2 touchdowns!

Mark grew the organization exponentially during his tenure and negotiated the Union Raiders joining the NKYFL for grades K-6th, providing a stable league in which the Raider program progressed and grew to be part of the highest division in the league under his watch.  The Union Raiders program would not be what is currently is without Mark's hard work and dedication!
